I live with my family in lower Rockridge and regularly cross 51st street for shopping and errands on Telegraph and to visit friends in Temescal. We often find ourselves sprinting across the the 4 lanes on 51st street to safely cross to the other side. I often see other parents with strollers doing the same. We realize that there are crosswalks at Telegraph and Shafter, but the reality is I and many others will run across the road to save time and for a more direct route. Is there any way to get a crosswalk, a blinking zebra stripe or just a zebra stripe at either Webster or Clarke streets?

The new Nautilus development with parking entrance at Clarke will certainly bring more traffic so perhaps a crosswalk is in the works?

Please let me know how we can most effectively petition for more crosswalks on 51st street near Webster and Clarke.
